Dr. Mallory Garza
PhD Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Mallory Garza is licensed to practice psychotherapy in the states of Kansas and Louisiana. In her therapy practice, she strives to provide a therapeutic relationship that is based on collaboration, trust, and authenticity. She believes that all people have the capacity for self-awareness and that each person has a unique identity that can be known only through genuine relationships with others. She believes that the role of a therapist is to help individuals focus on personal responsibility for making decisions in their lives, and she often uses cognitive-behavioral therapies as a means of helping individuals exert personal control over their own behaviors. Areas of clinical interest include working with young adults who present with concerns related to anxiety, depression, identity exploration, existential concerns, and general adjustment concerns.

Dr. Garza is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology & Behavioral Sciences at Louisiana Tech University, where she is a member of the core faculty for the Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program. Her research interests and pursuits include anxiety disorders, personality functioning, and the evaluation of the role of psychological reactance in a variety of health-related decision-making processes.

Dr. Garza is a member of Divisions 17 (Society of Counseling Psychology) and 42 (Psychologists in Independent Practice) of the American Psychological Association (APA). She also serves as a Board Member for the Louisiana Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
