Samantha Martin
Ph.D, LPC

I was raised in Shreveport, LA and have obtained degrees, locally, from Centenary College of Louisiana (B.A., communication), Louisiana State University Shreveport (M.S., counseling psychology), and Louisiana Tech University (Ph.D., Counseling Psychology) . Currently, I am a licensed professional counselor and supervisor in the state of Louisiana (#6203) and a licensed psychologist (#1584).

I have clinical experience in diverse settings including outpatient clinic, private practice, adolescent residential psychiatric facility, substance use treatment facility, VA medical center, and, a hospital (University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler - Doctoral Internship in Clinical Psychology). Throughout my training, I have worked with individuals across the life span, presenting with a wide range of concerns, including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, trauma, dementia, chronic pain, and serious mental illness. My therapeutic services include assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of presenting problems. Psychological evaluations include, but are not limited to, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning disabilities, intellectual disability, and personality.

I have found that the core of maladjustment is the reciprocal interaction of cognitions, emotions, and behaviors. Each individual is shaped by their personal experience with this triad. I choose to target these aspects of the human condition by helping my clients to explore unhelpful thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, as well as interpersonal processes that may be keeping these patterns in place. As such, an integral part of the therapy process for me is using here and now, process commentary, allowing me to guide my clients in exploring cognitions, emotions, and behaviors in the safety of a therapeutic environment.

Currently, I am only conducting psychological evaluation. I’m excited for the opportunity to meet with and help members of the Shreveport community. If you are interested in scheduling an intake appointment, please feel free to call 318-224-7223.
