What to Expect

First Contact

When you call our office, we will work with you to help you determine which counselor will be best suited for your needs.  Current counselor information on our website can be found here if you would like to preview our counselors’ expertise and background.  All you’ll need to set up an initial appointment with the right counselor is basic demographic information and, if applicable, insurance information.

Additionally, if you would prefer to email us for your initial contact instead of calling our office, we will welcome your email and respond quickly.  Simply contact us at info@ccprla.org.

Insurance and Payment

We can contact your insurance provider before the initial visit to determine your co-pay amount, as well as any other out-of-pocket expenses you may incur, if you need this to be provided to you.  Most insurance providers include some type of mental health benefits. If you are currently without health insurance coverage or between coverage plans, please ask about our counselors’ private rates that may still be affordable without insurance.

Confidentiality

Whether it’s your first phone call to our office or your final session with one of our counselors, all personal information is kept confidential as required by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).

Flexible Hours and Personalized Appointments

Although we have standard business office hours, many of our counselors often provide sessions outside our normal hours to accommodate your work or school schedule.  Our normal hours can be found here, but if you require another time, please just ask.

Answers Specifically for Parents

We understand that if you are a parent, you may have many additional questions because you are protective of your child.  Most of us are parents, too!  Additionally, most of our counselors have extensive backgrounds in school counseling, and we have a passion for providing honest information and positive environments for children.

“Should I worry about my child at counseling?”  It’s perfectly normal to worry about your child.  After all, your care and concern are why you contacted us.  But our counselors and psychologists are specially trained in providing for children of all ages and of all backgrounds.  Our counselors will remain in contact with you to update you on all your child’s progress.  You can be totally assured our counselors work to make sure your child enjoys time spent at our office and finds it to be a place of comfort, trust, and assurance.

“When do I talk with the counselor about my child?” Parents of younger children may be asked by the counselor to attend the first session without the child so that the parents and counselor can discuss the parents’ concerns and goals.  As sessions progress, the parents and counselor will discuss the child’s progress when they feel it is necessary.
